God is a God of details

I am so overwhelmed with thankfulness to God right now.. :') I FINALLY GOT AN INTERNSHIP!!!! After months of tears and waiting and applying and rejections, I finally got one. Trusting God that this is His plan for me, and I really pray that He will keep working in me to will and to work for His good pleasure. Left to my own devices, I just am unable to live for Him unless He works in me and I submit to Him. I have been so unfaithful recently with how I've been spending my time. My internship will be 2 hours from the city I'm currently living in, and it's in a small town - the demographic are of a lower socioeconomic status. I am also feeling so thankful that even before I'm leaving for this small town, there are so many kind friends around me who are helping me to make contact with people who are up there. I started with only knowing one friend who has been so helpful with pointing out places I should or shouldn't live in! And now, I found out that I have...

Tomorrow

Jesus said this in Matthew 6:34, "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." I have been worrying and worrying and worrying and worrying and worrying about my internship. Still haven't got one and the clock is ticking. I was so encouraged by what a friend shared that she has been learning not to worry about tomorrow, that she is learning to trust her Father at all times, leave work at work, and be fully present each moment. If He - the Creator of this universe who owns all things, whose mercy and love is so deep I can never ever truly comprehend fully - if He says I don't need to worry about tomorrow, then I *really* don't need to worry about tomorrow. I should just keep living fully in the present - knowing and loving Him, and loving others for Him in the present, without loading myself with anxiety about what tomorrow might hold. Did you know that the plethora of researc...

Rich girl

You know what I think is more beautiful than watching the sun set or the snow-capped Himalayan ranges? A restored relationship. And I am a recipient of such a grace! For this, I am so very thankful. :')

Hospitality vs entertaining

Did I ever mention that I just cannot host parties or big group catch-ups? (That's why I just attend them rather than host them. I have never hosted a big party for awhile.. haha.) It stresses me out waaay too much because I would feel like I need to make every single person feel welcomed - and the thought of that just makes me feel like shrinking because I know I won't be capable of that. But my pastor shared something last year about the difference between entertaining and Jesus-centred hospitality. And it has really helped with my party-hosting aversive personality. Entertainment is when everything must be perfect, but hospitality is when you just simply seek to bless. Entertainment is when you wanna impress others, but hospitality, there is no need to be perfect and impress others - because I already have God's approval and that is enough. When entertaining, there is no acknowledgement of God's generosity, but hospitality is in response to His generosity. ...

These dreams are for real :)

By Antonio Machado (this is one of my FAVOURITE poems!!) Last night, as I was sleeping I dreamt - marvellous error! - that a spring was breaking out in my heart. I said: Along which secret aqueduct Oh water, are you coming to me water of a new life that I have never drunk? Last night, as I was sleeping I dreamt - marvellous error! - that I had a beehive here inside my heart. And the golden bees were making white combs and sweet honey from my old failures. Last night, as I was sleeping I dreamt - marvellous error! - that a fiery sun was giving light inside my heart. It was fiery because I felt warmth as from a hearth and sun because it gave light and brought tears to my eyes. Last night as I slept I dreamt - marvellous error! - that it was God I had here inside my heart.

Just keep swimming

I have been pretty low lately. Last week I cancelled three catch-ups with friends so that I could stay in my room and cry. Sigh. Put off writing my cover letter for another internship for an entire week. Dory is right. I must keep swimming! Dory: Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Marlin: No I don't wanna know. Dory: [singing] Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim. Marlin: Dory, no singing. Dory: [continuing] Ha, ha, ha, ha, ho. I love to swim. When you want to swim you want to swim. Marlin: Now I'm stuck with that song... Now it's in my head. Dory: Sorry.
