Dirty dishes

he other day, I was working at the retirement village as usual and I was wearing the carry the call t-shirt, the one that has John 1:1-4 at the back of it. As I was carrying the pile of dishes to the counter, Mr H wheeled his chair over to me and asked me, "How do you know it's true? That verse at the back. How do you know it's for real?" I told him I knew that God was real because of how he worked in my life, that how he brought so much meaning into my life was so real and so supernatural that I couldn't put it into words. I knew it was definitely something I couldn't do on my own strength.. that I was fully convinced it was God.. that I knew He had to be the Creator of everything. I thought he was going to start this theological debate with me but, he didn't. Phew! Mr B overheard our conversation and smiled at me saying, "I'm glad he's doing some good in your life." Hehs. What could I have said? I didn't really know how to...

No more exams

Yaaayy my exams have finished! Can't say I did as well as I had hoped because I started studying at the last minute (you reap what you sow, right?) but God really brought me through (again!). I get so pressured, and grouchy, and worried during exam period. I kept reading 1st Joshua, Ephesians 3:20-21 and this devotion by LB Cowman again and again, everytime doubt and fear assailed me (which was practically almost everyday!): Here's a snippet from that devotional: "Arches of triumph are made not of rose blossoms and strands of silk but of hard blows and bloody scars. The very hardships you are enduring in your life today have been given to you by the Master, for the express purpose of enabling you to win your crown. Therefore do not always look ahead to your tomorrows for some ideal situation, exotic difficulty, or faraway emergency in which to shine. Rise today to face the circumstances in which the providence of God has placed you. Your crown of glory is hidden in...

Last day of high school

As of today, I've had two last days of high school (finished From 5 in Malaysia and today, finished Form 7 in NZ)! Although I've been here for one brief year, I can't say the time I've spent here  has meant nothing to me. We were all supposed to have morning tea with our teachers but the senior staff canceled it. It was all because a bunch of Year 13's ran around the school half-naked and released a chicken (a chicken! of all things) in the staff room. I suspect it's also because of "The Year 13 Undie Run" that took place a day earlier (I was not part of it, you would never catch me running wild around the school in undies).   The following day during our last assembly, our vice principal informed us that the chicken is now well fed and well looked after.

Three kisses

I received three kisses on my cheek today from three of the kids I taught in Sunday School.  It was so cute 'cos one of them kissed me first, and the other two hurried to follow suit.  And I felt like  melting.. =)

Caterpillars and Little Lulu

This blogpost is my way of showing you what happens when you study aqueous systems (Chemistry) for too long. Ugh. Skyping mum and she thinks the flexed muscle emoticon looks like a caterpillar. Uhh, does it? Oohh, I found the Little Lulu theme song on Youtube! I was a BIGGGG FANN of Little Lulu when I was little - used to watch it without fail, everyday after school on Cartoon Network.  Now, Lulu's not featured on tv anymore, and she's replaced by trash like "Cow and Chicken" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog".  And what's a Youtube clip without lyrics to sing-a-long to! ;)     (baum, be doom, ba di di di baum) Oh Lulu! Little Lulu, Little Lulu With freckles on your skin Always in and out trouble, but mostly always in Using Dad's neck tie for the tail of your kite Using Mom's lipstick for the letters you write Little Lulu, Little Lulu There's no one quite as smart Doesn't matter what your doin'  ...

I am from

I did a lot of catching up today - spoke to folks back home and one of my closest friends who just turned 17 today! It was great just listening to the sound of their voices, missed them so much. This meme is about things in my childhood which I hold very close to my heart! The comic strip below reminded me of how my sister and I used to hunt for our Christmas presents before the day arrived. I still remember trying to act surprised when I unwrapped my much sought-after flower-making kit! I am from I am from delightful rambunctious thunderstorms, from the twinkling keys of  C. Steinbert, from verdant fields dotted with wildflowers and shy grass. I am from the white parsonage next to the church surrounded by pine trees rustling in the breeze. I am from the seven colours God paints so beautifully, the zig-zagged paths of the dragonflies, the little flower that opens, the little bird that sings. I am from doodles with Crayola crayons, and cuddling with a good bo...

Regardless of

Regardless of the circumstance, Regardless of the fear, Regardless of the pain we bear, Regardless of the tear. Our God is ever in control, Performing as He should, And He has promised in His Word To work things for our good. But as a loving Father would, He sometimes lets us cry To cleanse the hurt out of our heart, To wash it from our eye. Yet gently gathers the tears Within His hands to stay Until He turns them into pearls, and gives them back someday.

Clear springs of life!

26/4/07 6am that's when my Twinkle gave birth today! Oh, how I wish I was there! *exasperated sigh* Goshh! Don't they look adorable! My mother told me that around 6am she saw twinkle with a "rat" in her mouth. Mum didn't realize that it was the puppy. She asked my grandma to help get the "rat" out of Twinkle's mouth. Oh, I don't know if I've mentioned it to u guys before, but when my grandma was younger, she used to breed dogs, so she's got A LOT of experience with them : ) New additions to the family ;) (L to R: Hero, Kiara and Pixie!) Twinkle is really small (6-8kg), so she only gave birth to 4 puppies.. In actual fact, springer/ cocker spaniels are able to grow much bigger than little Twinkle. However.. she won't be able to grow anymore because her pregnancy will stunt her growth. I wish I could say that everything went like clockwork.. but life isn't always like that. The fourth pup was stillborn. The mother didn...

Dancing in the rain

With anxiety in the air And tension everywhere On the wings of the wind The storm roared in As the storm raged around They bowed their heads down As they began to pray They heard Him say: "Dance-dance in the rain-have no fear Dance-dance in the rain-I am here Dance-dance in the rain-this won’t last Dance-dance in the rain-the storm will pass Dance-dance in the rain-I’ll see you through Dance-dance in the rain-I’ll take care of you." Every life it seems Has storms that it brings When lightening streaks the sky And thunder drums from up high When your storm moves in Just trust in Him In the storms roar Take shelter in the Lord

The city of sails

I haven't posted ANYTHING about my life here at New Zealand. I shall now.. =) Well.. it's really really hot at the moment! (the weather's very temperamental.. this morning was really cold & I wore three layers of clothing!) I was told that if u leave a slice of bread out in the sun for a whole day, it'll get toasted! I'm staying with my three cousins - Jon, Sam & Ken. So what have I been up to lately? *mischievous grin* I'm always washing the plates (haha. I guess that's because I'm only good at doing that =P) There's a playground right behind my cousins' home so I go there quite often with my sister & the three boys.. and guess what we do? We sit on the swings & climb trees! Heheh. Turning into quite a monkey in New Zealand. tsks tsks.. see what the boys are doing to us. Haha! (it's a good thing none of them have multiply. teehee) It's great to be reunited with them after 2 long years.. Jon's exactl...

The bigger picture

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they  were meant to be there...to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson  or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but you lock eyes with them, and you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way. These people might only be with you for a short period of time, but they serve a purpose. And when that purpose is done, they fly away from our lives, suddenly, painfuly, slowly or gradually. Some stay. Whoever they may be, remember them. Remember what they were to you. Remember the lesson learned, the happiness and love , the tears and pain. Sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential, strength, will power or endurance. God has a purpose for everything. N...

leaving Malaysia

i haven't blogged for ages.. or as Mdm Sandy would put it, "donkey years"! hahah =P hmm, speaking about Pn Sandy, the 4 of us still haven't received our editor's cert yet! =) I'm packing for NZ at the moment.. there's so much to bring!! (I wish I could bring my whole house.. if only a hurricane would come & instead of blowing my house to The Land of Oz.. it'll carry it to New Zealand! heheh.. I wish!) I wouldn't feel the least bit surprised if my baggage turns out to be overweight!! Air Asia charges quite a fair bit for excess luggage, so I've to be very selective with what I bring. Hmm.. maybe I'll haul my huge luggage over my weighing scale to find out if it is overweight =P Things have been pretty hard for me lately. Sigh.. I'm so emotionally attached to the people in Kch, not to mention 4 four-legged animals that (to my parents horror) I treat like a close kin.. I really really pray that I will not have to give them a...
