Wait a minute

As I was stroking Tammy while she was eating, it just struck me how completely in love I am with her. This 2-months-old destructo German Shepherd pup has me tightly wrapped around her muddy little paw! Because of Tam, I have become the slowest text message and facebook wall post replier on earth!

It was so nice watching her munch happily on her puppy food whilst I stroked her, and I stopped to think about that verse in the Bible in 1 John 4:"God is love".

He is the very essence of love.

I mean.. look, I'm just a girl who is just drenched with imperfections; I make wrong choices, think wrong thoughts on a daily basis - and here I am, so in love with my pup.

Then, I thought about something radical: Wait a minute, what if God loved me as much as Mel and I love Tammy!

What if He watches me as I eat & tries to tell me how much He loves me even during meal times?
What if He sits with me and calms me down till I'm sound asleep?
What if He constantly picks up my poop, scrub the floor of my house so I have a clean home to stay in? (And He's done it sooo many times, He's ready to become a professional poop picker!)
What if He is always up for playing my favourite game every time no matter how tired He is?
.. And He is constantly taking nonsense/rubbish out of my mouth that I never knew was rubbish?
What if He pours over books on how to care for 'Abby' each day so that He can better train me, care for me and grow me up to be all I can be?

(Yeah, that's some things Mel and I have been doing with Tam)

I'm no theological writer, but it just occurred to me that the intensity of God's love towards you & me surpasses all the above. The very fact I'm making this comparison is shameful because who am I but a sinner? And to compare myself to God? Shame on me!

No, I don't come close. Far from it. This comparison just helps me to see how much He loves me (=

How can I not be aware of His love for me?
What would God NOT DO for me? He is love!
My Papa is LOVE ITSELF.

I would live life A LOT MORE DIFFERENTLY if I was always aware of HOW MUCH HE LOVES ME.

God LOVES us, everyone needs to know that, if you truly knew and believed,

Life would be radically different!

Which brings me to quote this verse from Romans 8:37-39

"..in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord".

And this poem I remember from years ago :)

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it
He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen
He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem; not to mention that Friday at Calvary.
Face it, He's crazy about you!

So my challenge to you and myself included is to go through this day continually remembering how much God loves you and see how different it turns out to be :D *beams*

Have a BEAUTIFUL day! (Time to see what Tammy's been up to)

Uncomfortable memories

I wanted to reflect on a few things I couldn't do when I had my disc injury last year because again, I think it's important to see how far God has brought me. Warning that this is a hard read/ a bit of a downer, but it also might help you be grateful for so many movements we take for granted! These were 7 things I couldn't do at the height of my pain, but thankfully can now do. 1. Cutting my toenails - bending over was so painful and so hard for a few months and needed help with clipping them, which was so humbling 🦢🏻🦢🏻 2. Changing - it was quite painful to twist my body to change my clothes. Gosh I remember having so little motivation to get out of my pajamas or not even caring what I wear for work when I usually enjoy dressing up πŸ§₯πŸ‘šπŸ‘— 3. Sitting - probably the most painful activity of all, and I still have limits to this. For about 6 months, I could only sit for 30 mins before I experienced the disc pain. Those were the days where I had to stand up every 30 minutes ...

Just keep swimming

I think God is really really teaching me a lesson of perseverance in this season of my recovery. This season has undeniably bore such beautiful gifts, and the frustrations it comes with are real and tough too. Sometimes, I just ask God questions, not knowing if He will answer, but trusting that He lends me His ears to hear me. How much longer, God? Why can't I (fill in the blanks with my frustrations towards myself)?  Why can't You (fill in the blanks with my frustrations towards God)? At the heart of these questions, I think the main question I ask God is:  Do You see me God? Do You care for me? My most recent question I asked God is why did You allow this recent flare-up with my back to happen?  Everything was going so well and then You allowed me to have a setback. This even happened just before I was planning to join my church music team to play for an Alpha camp. I had to plan the day so I made sure I had enough rest and I couldn't as carefreely serve. Th...

Worries big and small

I remembered asking God why.. so often while I'm singing or while listening to the pastor preach or when I'm at my small group, my strength is renewed, my cares are released and my faith deepened. But not long after, I return to my tasks and responsibilities with drudgery and I worry worry worry worry worry. I got my answer through this sermon I was listening to: it's because though I lay my burdens down while I'm at church, at the end of the church service - I pick up my burdens and take the whole pile with me out the door. Ha. And this little article I just read (below) is pretty much saying the same thing, really blessed by it! ‘Casting all of your anxiety on Him because he cares for you’ 1 Peter 5:7. The word casting means to throw upon. It’s a deliberate forceful throwing. Some suggest Peter used this term because he was a fisherman and that involves taking a fishing net and forcefully throwing it out from the boat. Peter is actually quoting from Psalm 55:22...
