Two weeks home

I'm back in Auckland now and I wish I could have stayed in Kch for CNY.  I hardly had time to go online when I was back in Malaysia, my mum already sold our house, so basically, we spent MOST of the time in Kch, clearing the house and packing 20kg boxes (we packed 9 of 'em, just us 3 girls! and we had to carry them too.. okaay, I admit it was just to the car, and out of the car to the parcel office.. but still.. :P)  THANK God for good friends =) Mimi came over to my house quite often to help with the clearing up. Poor old lady, she kept sneezing and sniffing during the initial stage of cleaning but, eventually she got used to it. Thanks Mimi so much for your help, we really couldn't have done it without you, you're a SUPER-duper good OLD friend =) When I was clearing my room, I found an assortment of rust-gathering trinkets, junk, diaries, treasures.. I found my report cards from St Faith Kindy from 1994 all the way to 1996! I even found my diaries from Primary 2 onwa...

Dirty dishes

he other day, I was working at the retirement village as usual and I was wearing the carry the call t-shirt, the one that has John 1:1-4 at the back of it. As I was carrying the pile of dishes to the counter, Mr H wheeled his chair over to me and asked me, "How do you know it's true? That verse at the back. How do you know it's for real?" I told him I knew that God was real because of how he worked in my life, that how he brought so much meaning into my life was so real and so supernatural that I couldn't put it into words. I knew it was definitely something I couldn't do on my own strength.. that I was fully convinced it was God.. that I knew He had to be the Creator of everything. I thought he was going to start this theological debate with me but, he didn't. Phew! Mr B overheard our conversation and smiled at me saying, "I'm glad he's doing some good in your life." Hehs. What could I have said? I didn't really know how to...

No more exams

Yaaayy my exams have finished! Can't say I did as well as I had hoped because I started studying at the last minute (you reap what you sow, right?) but God really brought me through (again!). I get so pressured, and grouchy, and worried during exam period. I kept reading 1st Joshua, Ephesians 3:20-21 and this devotion by LB Cowman again and again, everytime doubt and fear assailed me (which was practically almost everyday!): Here's a snippet from that devotional: "Arches of triumph are made not of rose blossoms and strands of silk but of hard blows and bloody scars. The very hardships you are enduring in your life today have been given to you by the Master, for the express purpose of enabling you to win your crown. Therefore do not always look ahead to your tomorrows for some ideal situation, exotic difficulty, or faraway emergency in which to shine. Rise today to face the circumstances in which the providence of God has placed you. Your crown of glory is hidden in...

Last day of high school

As of today, I've had two last days of high school (finished From 5 in Malaysia and today, finished Form 7 in NZ)! Although I've been here for one brief year, I can't say the time I've spent here  has meant nothing to me. We were all supposed to have morning tea with our teachers but the senior staff canceled it. It was all because a bunch of Year 13's ran around the school half-naked and released a chicken (a chicken! of all things) in the staff room. I suspect it's also because of "The Year 13 Undie Run" that took place a day earlier (I was not part of it, you would never catch me running wild around the school in undies).   The following day during our last assembly, our vice principal informed us that the chicken is now well fed and well looked after.

Three kisses

I received three kisses on my cheek today from three of the kids I taught in Sunday School.  It was so cute 'cos one of them kissed me first, and the other two hurried to follow suit.  And I felt like  melting.. =)

Caterpillars and Little Lulu

This blogpost is my way of showing you what happens when you study aqueous systems (Chemistry) for too long. Ugh. Skyping mum and she thinks the flexed muscle emoticon looks like a caterpillar. Uhh, does it? Oohh, I found the Little Lulu theme song on Youtube! I was a BIGGGG FANN of Little Lulu when I was little - used to watch it without fail, everyday after school on Cartoon Network.  Now, Lulu's not featured on tv anymore, and she's replaced by trash like "Cow and Chicken" and "Courage the Cowardly Dog".  And what's a Youtube clip without lyrics to sing-a-long to! ;)     (baum, be doom, ba di di di baum) Oh Lulu! Little Lulu, Little Lulu With freckles on your skin Always in and out trouble, but mostly always in Using Dad's neck tie for the tail of your kite Using Mom's lipstick for the letters you write Little Lulu, Little Lulu There's no one quite as smart Doesn't matter what your doin'  ...

I am from

I did a lot of catching up today - spoke to folks back home and one of my closest friends who just turned 17 today! It was great just listening to the sound of their voices, missed them so much. This meme is about things in my childhood which I hold very close to my heart! The comic strip below reminded me of how my sister and I used to hunt for our Christmas presents before the day arrived. I still remember trying to act surprised when I unwrapped my much sought-after flower-making kit! I am from I am from delightful rambunctious thunderstorms, from the twinkling keys of  C. Steinbert, from verdant fields dotted with wildflowers and shy grass. I am from the white parsonage next to the church surrounded by pine trees rustling in the breeze. I am from the seven colours God paints so beautifully, the zig-zagged paths of the dragonflies, the little flower that opens, the little bird that sings. I am from doodles with Crayola crayons, and cuddling with a good bo...
