Dear Daddy, thank you for..

Dear Daddy, There are so many things I want to thank you for. I am so humbled by how You have provided for me since I moved last Sunday. <3 my wall of cards! Thank you, Dad for.. 1. My new friends. I'm someone who doesn't crave a bustling social life, but I really do like having a close group of friends. I've been meeting a couple of friends of friends over this Easter weekend and they live only 2 minutes away from me. In just a span of one week, I've found friends with whom I can grow in faith with, friends who've offered to give me rides to the bus stop, another friend who will watch girly movies with me (like Cinderella :P) and a friend who doesn't mind playing board games with me (that's very important you know :D). Daddy, You think of everything! 2. My lovely workmates. The two teams that I'm working with are so lovely, supportive and easy to get along with. I really cannot say more. It is really my prayer that I will be able to ble...

At 4am

Knowing how sensitive I am to caffeine, perhaps it wasn't the wisest thing to have my "kumquat lemon tea with aloe with 30% sugar and 80% less ice" at 10pm. Even if Chatime's just opened in my part of the world and even if I'm leaving for a town where there will be hardly any Asian food, except what I can prepare myself. It's 4am now and I'm feeling rather proud of myself for spending my time so efficiently. So far I've tidied my room and packed (not done yet though) and I've prepared the batter for apam balik, this crispy pancake with peanut filling. I was whisking away at 3am in the bathroom, hoping that I won't wake any of my family members up. And thanks to my ninja whisking skills, I didn't :P bahahaha. Now, it's 4am and I've finally decided to try and sleep.. and my thoughts are wandering. I move this Sunday. Although I feel like I've found a really great flat with really nice flatmates, I'm not allowed to bring m...

Stuff to consider

A few things going on in my head right now.. Why is it so hard to find an apartment that allows dogs? Why are my friends of friends who are also hunting for a flat only GUYS - it can't just me and two guys.. where are the girls looking for a flat? One thing I'm relieved about is that my internship only starts on April 1st so I have some time before going up. I am going to aim to bring and accumulate the bare minimum of what I need! I have been so distracted these past three weeks (with youtube). I have been so undisciplined and I've hardly been doing any work at all (bad Abby). My supervisor is probably jumping up and down wondering why I haven't called a supervisor's meeting. :( Finally managed to do some work today. I am so so thankful to God. Thank you so much God. Please forgive me and help me! I know I'm not living a life worthy of the Gospel and I really need You to teach me to count my days. :( Was sharing this with a friend the other day, it ...

God is a God of details

I am so overwhelmed with thankfulness to God right now.. :') I FINALLY GOT AN INTERNSHIP!!!! After months of tears and waiting and applying and rejections, I finally got one. Trusting God that this is His plan for me, and I really pray that He will keep working in me to will and to work for His good pleasure. Left to my own devices, I just am unable to live for Him unless He works in me and I submit to Him. I have been so unfaithful recently with how I've been spending my time. My internship will be 2 hours from the city I'm currently living in, and it's in a small town - the demographic are of a lower socioeconomic status. I am also feeling so thankful that even before I'm leaving for this small town, there are so many kind friends around me who are helping me to make contact with people who are up there. I started with only knowing one friend who has been so helpful with pointing out places I should or shouldn't live in! And now, I found out that I have...

Tomorrow

Jesus said this in Matthew 6:34, "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." I have been worrying and worrying and worrying and worrying and worrying about my internship. Still haven't got one and the clock is ticking. I was so encouraged by what a friend shared that she has been learning not to worry about tomorrow, that she is learning to trust her Father at all times, leave work at work, and be fully present each moment. If He - the Creator of this universe who owns all things, whose mercy and love is so deep I can never ever truly comprehend fully - if He says I don't need to worry about tomorrow, then I *really* don't need to worry about tomorrow. I should just keep living fully in the present - knowing and loving Him, and loving others for Him in the present, without loading myself with anxiety about what tomorrow might hold. Did you know that the plethora of researc...

Rich girl

You know what I think is more beautiful than watching the sun set or the snow-capped Himalayan ranges? A restored relationship. And I am a recipient of such a grace! For this, I am so very thankful. :')

Hospitality vs entertaining

Did I ever mention that I just cannot host parties or big group catch-ups? (That's why I just attend them rather than host them. I have never hosted a big party for awhile.. haha.) It stresses me out waaay too much because I would feel like I need to make every single person feel welcomed - and the thought of that just makes me feel like shrinking because I know I won't be capable of that. But my pastor shared something last year about the difference between entertaining and Jesus-centred hospitality. And it has really helped with my party-hosting aversive personality. Entertainment is when everything must be perfect, but hospitality is when you just simply seek to bless. Entertainment is when you wanna impress others, but hospitality, there is no need to be perfect and impress others - because I already have God's approval and that is enough. When entertaining, there is no acknowledgement of God's generosity, but hospitality is in response to His generosity. ...
